BEDFORD – The local construction and remodeling market showed strong activity in September 2025, with the Building Department issuing a total of 30 permits for projects across commercial, residential, and public sectors.

According to a report covering activity from September 1 to September 30, 2025, all permits were processed with exceptional efficiency, as all 30 were issued “Within Expected Process Time” (Same Day Mean Time to Issue).
Major Commercial Projects Issued
Several significant commercial projects received permits during the month, including major renovations and new construction:
- Tractor Supply, located at 2653 16th Street, has received a $150,000 permit for a comprehensive interior remodel, which includes electrical, plumbing, and the addition of a self-service pet washroom.
- Regency Properties received a $250,000 permit for a remodel at 1224 James Avenue for a new Five Below store.
- The Animal Hospital of Bedford, located at 138 East 16th Street, has received a permit for a $260,000 expansion project that will add three new exam rooms, a treatment area, and a break room.
- Central Church of Christ was issued a $35,000.00 permit for the construction of a new pole barn at 1135 N Street.
Residential Construction and Demolition
The residential sector saw robust growth, with eight new residential construction permits issued.
- Starview Homes accounted for six of these permits on Walden Drive and Aruba Drive/Court, with each new house valued at $350,000.00.
- Other new home projects included a new duplex (Cost: $110,000.00) and a new house (Cost: $120,000.00).
In addition to new construction, the city issued three demolition permits. Projects included the demolition of a house by St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 912 17th Street and the demolition of a home and garage by Darci Bell at 1613 E Street.
The department also issued nine permits for residential remodeling, covering major repairs such as the installation of jacks to support floor packages, roof/siding repairs, and foundation work.
