Apply now for the FFY2026 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grant

INDIANA – The FY2026 Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness (HMEP) grant is now accepting applications. The application period closes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025. 

Please read the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) carefully. The cap per project is $30,000. Applicants may submit one project per application and can submit multiple applications to be considered for funding.

A few items have become unallowable or are a very low priority for Indiana during this FY2026 HMEP cycle:

  • EMAI Conference – due to low correlation to HazMat transportation
  • IERC Conference – due to low correlation to HazMat transportation
  • Plans – due to the new module that simplifies plans and plan updates
