Phoebe ‘Kay’ Sanders, 87, of Shoals, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at her residence.
Born January 31, 1938, in Rutherford Township, she was the daughter of Raymond Charles and Alice Jane (Street) Ziegler. She married Gerald Sanders on November 17, 1956 in Shoals, and he survives.
Kay was a Pastor’s wife and worked in home health. She attended Mt. Zion Wesleyan Church and was a member of Poplar Grove Wesleyan Church.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Gerald; children, Phyllis Kay Warner, Karla Faye Henry, and Douglas Lee (Valerie) Sanders; grandchildren, Dawna Marie Haswell, Gerald Michael (Amanda) Sanders, Charles Edward Sanders, and Ellis Richard (Julie) Haswell; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Raymond G. Warner; sons-in-law, Ralph Warner and Charles William “Bill” Henry; sisters, Clara Denny and Vondale Hopkins; and brothers, Charles Ziegler and Robert Ziegler.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care in Shoals with Pastor Dan Gormong. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour on Tuesday at the Queen-Lee Chapel, Shoals.
