Upon arrival, officers located a man with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the left side of his upper torso. Officers immediately attempted life-saving measures until the arrival of the Bloomington Fire Department and IU Health Ambulance Service.
The man was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by a physician at 10:28 p.m. The victim was identified as a 29-year-old transient man.
Suspect Fled in Dark-Colored Sedan

Witnesses reported that during the altercation, the shooter exited the vehicle, produced a handgun, and fired one shot. The shooter then got back into a dark-colored sedan and fled the area at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on Howe Street before turning northbound onto Madison Street. Witnesses also heard a woman inside the suspect vehicle screaming as it left the scene.
Authorities do not believe the involved individuals knew each other.

The BPD is urging residents in the vicinity of the shooting to review any available camera footage for videos of the suspect vehicle entering and leaving the neighborhood.
