BLOOMINGTON — The City of Bloomington Utilities (CBU) will replace a fire hydrant recently damaged on South Sare Road, between East Moores Pike and East Cathcart Street. Weather permitting, work is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, and is expected to be completed by 2:00 p.m. on the same day.
To ensure the safety of both CBU crews and motorists during this project, a temporary lane restriction will be in place for the duration of the work. Drivers are advised to use caution while traveling through the area and to allow extra time for potential delays.
CBU anticipates no interruptions to water service during the hydrant replacement. This repair is part of CBU’s ongoing efforts to maintain Bloomington’s water infrastructure, including the city’s approximately 3,200 fire hydrants, which are regularly inspected and maintained to ensure reliable service to residents and businesses. By addressing hydrant issues promptly, CBU helps ensure continued access to critical firefighting resources and uninterrupted water service for the community.
CBU appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during this brief disruption.
