BEDFORD – A Heltonville man is facing felony charges of child molesting and sexual battery following an investigation by the Indiana State Police.
Jayson Scott Hanners, 38, has been charged based on an affidavit of probable cause filed in Lawrence Circuit Court. He was arrested on September 17.

According to the affidavit, a Family Case Manager with the Department of Child Services contacted Indiana State Police Detective Michael Tummers to report allegations against Hanners.
The affidavit states that two female juveniles alleged sexual abuse by Hanners. The first victim, who is now 17, claimed the abuse began when she was 8 years old and continued until she was 16. She also alleged physical abuse by Hanners’ wife. The second female victim, who is 15, stated that her sexual abuse by Hanners started when she was 13.
As a result of the investigation, Jayson Scott Hanners has been formally charged with child molesting, sexual battery, and neglect of a dependent.
