INDIANA – Indiana Lieutenant Governor Micah Beckwith announced that he is proposing to name a bridge in Indiana after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, who was recently assassinated.

In a statement, Beckwith said the bridge would honor Kirk’s legacy of “building bridges through productive, thought-provoking conversation.” He suggested that a pedestrian bridge would be an ideal choice for the “Charlie Kirk Unity Bridge,” as it would be a place for people to “slow down, talk, and connect.”

“Just as bridges link our communities, his legacy reminds us to keep building connections with one another,” Beckwith stated. “The Charlie Kirk Unity Bridge will serve as a lasting reminder that true strength is not in dividing, but in uniting.” He believes the memorial would reflect the same spirit that Kirk carried in his work, which he said reached millions through peaceful debate and open dialogue
