Jodi Clark builds career around community as local Farm Bureau Agent

BEDFORD — For Jodi Clark, being an insurance agent is about more than policies and premiums — it’s about people.

“I want to be an agent who is here to answer the phone, to be there when people need me, because insurance is a safety net that will help you bounce back stronger than ever,” Clark said.

Before starting her career in insurance with Farm Bureau in Bloomington, Clark worked at The Times-Mail newspaper in Bedford. That experience, she said, gave her a deep understanding of the people she now serves in her community.

Her perspective as a local agent is what she believes sets her apart from larger, national companies.

“When you’re calling the big online providers, when you need them, you are speaking to someone you can’t meet, someone who doesn’t know you,” Clark said. “When you use a bigger agency located across the country, when you are talking about rates, you are paying for what they have going on over there. We only focus on protecting people, right here in Indiana.”

Clark is active in both the Bedford and Mitchell chambers of commerce, serves as a chairperson for the Persimmon Festival, and has been involved in Phi Beta Psi, a local community sorority, for more than 15 years. She said her roots in the area run deep, having raised her two adult children, Caroline and Nick, in Mitchell.

Her commitment to the community extends beyond business hours. “I am an agent who doesn’t care to give out my cell phone number, because I want you to be able to contact me whenever you need me,” she said.

Outside of her professional life, Clark attends City Church in Bloomington and enjoys music, theatre, camping, and traveling.

Her office is located at 3155 John Williams Blvd. in Bedford. She can be reached on her personal cell at 812-583-6119 or through her Facebook page, Jodi Clark Indiana Farm Bureau.
