“Late Is No Excuse” – Multi-agency traffic enforcement conducted on Interstate 69

PENDLETON – On the morning of Friday, September 12, 2025, multiple law enforcement agencies partnered in a coordinated, high-visibility traffic enforcement effort along Interstate 69 from mile marker 200 to mile marker 251.

The “Late is no excuse” operation was conducted from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and targeted aggressive and dangerous driving behaviors that continue to pose a safety risk on Indiana highways.

Participating agencies included the Indiana State Police Pendleton and Indianapolis Districts, the Noblesville Police Department, and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Thirty Indiana State Troopers and officers from the supporting local agencies participated in the effort.

The enforcement zone focused on the following violations:

  • Speeding
  • Failure to wear seatbelts
  • Violation of Indiana’s hands-free law
  • Commercial motor vehicle (CMV) compliance

Enforcement Results:

  • 194 traffic stops conducted
  • 98 citations issued
  • 145 warnings issued
  • 11 criminal arrests made
  • 17 commercial motor vehicle inspections, identifying 43 CMV-related violations and one CMV placed out of service

“This kind of collaboration across jurisdictions shows our shared commitment to keep Indiana roads safe, said Lieutenant Coley McCutcheon, Pendleton District Commander. “Drivers need to understand there is no excuse for putting others at risk. Whether you’re late or not, safety must come first.”

The Indiana State Police wants to remind all motorists to obey traffic laws, avoid distractions, and refrain from using a cell phone while driving. Remember, “late is no excuse”.
