IU Health Bedford shines with five-star quality rating from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & MedicaidServices

BEDFORD – IU Health Bedford is proud to be one of 12 Indiana hospitals to receive a five-star Quality Star Rating from the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for 2025.

IU Health Bedford Chief Operating Officer Larry Bailey

“This is great recognition for the IU Health Bedford team,” said IU Health Bedford Chief Operating Officer Larry Bailey. “Only a small percentage of hospitals nationwide earn five-star ratings. We view this as validation of the exceptional care we provide to our patients every day. I appreciate the effort our team makes every day to provide excellent care, and it is great to see this effort recognized by an external agency.”

IU Health South Region President Denzil Ross

IU Health South Region President Denzil Ross shared, “Our IU Health Bedford team is known for its steadfast dedication to doing good in the lives of others, and each individual on this team helps ensure patients receive the timely, compassionate, and expert care they need close to home. I’m very proud that CMS has recognized these efforts.”

CMS calculates its ratings based on five quality areas: mortality, safety, readmission, patient experience, and timely and effective care. Only 291 hospitals—10.1%— across the nation received a five-star CMS rating in 2025.
