BEDFORD — A Heltonville man, Bradley D. Carter, 36, was sentenced to 20 years in the Indiana Department of Correction on September 3, 2025, after pleading guilty to felony burglary and being a habitual offender.

Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III handed down the sentence.
Carter’s guilty plea, part of a negotiated agreement with the State of Indiana, resolved all pending cases against him.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings praised the efforts of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department in the case. “This prison sentence is the direct result of the hard work and dedication put in by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department,” Cummings said. “Mr. Carter has a lengthy criminal history, and we hope that upon his eventual return, he can become a productive member of society.”
