Lawrence Superior Court I Judge John M. Plummer III, on September 3, sentenced Achelpohl to serve her initial sentence of 778 days in the Indiana Department of Corrections with credit for the time already served.

Achelpohl had previously pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a syringe, a Level 6 felony, as part of a negotiated plea agreement. She was initially sentenced to a total of 910 days, with 778 days suspended, and was placed on supervised probation for 730 days.

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings

Senior Deputy Prosecutor Sarah Cummings commented on the case, stating, “This defendant continued to violate the terms of her probation and not address her issues in ways that would allow her to remain in the community. At some point, a person has to abide by what they said they were going to do. If they don’t, there have to be consequences. In this case, prison is the right result.”
