BEDFORD — A Bedford man is facing a domestic battery charge after he allegedly pushed the mother of his child to the ground in the presence of a minor. Ryan McFarland, 39, was not at the scene when police arrived, and an arrest warrant was requested. He was detained on Saturday, September 6.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment on 6th Street on August 15, 2025. The female victim told police that her child’s father, Ryan McFarland, had come over to visit their five-year-old child. She stated that McFarland, who had moved out months prior, was intoxicated.
The woman told officers that McFarland began yelling at her and others in the apartment. During the argument, she claims McFarland pushed her in the chest with both hands, causing her to fall and hit a metal cabinet. She sustained injuries and pain to her right elbow and left knee.
The affidavit states that the child was only a few feet away in a recliner at the time the incident occurred. After pushing the female victim, McFarland allegedly punched the television and continued yelling. She then reportedly had to forcefully push him out of the apartment before she contacted authorities.
The woman signed a domestic battery affidavit and was given information about the victim’s rights and how to obtain a protective order, something she had done against McFarland in the past. An incident report was also filed with the Department of Child Services.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
