LAWRENCE CO. – The Indiana Department of Transportation announces lane closures for State Road 37 in Lawrence County.
Beginning on or around Monday, September 15, lane closures will commence on the northbound and southbound lanes of State Road 37 near Bedford. These lane closures will occur near the intersection of Wesley Chapel Road.

Lane closures will allow for the first phase of an intersection improvement project at State Road 37 and Wesley Chapel Road. A Reduced Conflict Intersection will be installed at the intersection. Work on phase one is expected to last through the end of September, depending on the weather. The passing lanes of State Road 37 will remain open during this phase of the project.
A Reduced Conflict Intersection is an alternative to traditional roadway intersections on a four-lane highway. Instead of motorists crossing fast-moving lanes of traffic to get to the opposing lanes, drivers at an RCI turn right in the same direction of traffic, merge into the left lane, and then make a U-turn in the direction they intend to travel.
