North Daviess rolls to 4-1 win over BNL

BNL’s Orion Hill teamed with Neal Patel for a win at No.1 doubles, but the Stars suffered a 4-1 loss to North Daviess on Saturday.

BEDFORD – North Daviess swept the singles while cruising past Bedford North Lawrence 4-1 during boys high school tennis action on Saturday.

The Cougars also took No.2 doubles as the Stars adjusted their normal lineup.

BNL’s only win came at No.1 doubles as Orion Hill and Neal Patel topped Rex Freed and Will Murrie 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 (in a super tiebreaker to decide the third set).

In singles, North Daviess didn’t drop a set as Coby Loheider stopped Jackson Corey 6-1, 6-3 at No.1, Koen Stoll defeated Asher Thompson 6-2, 6-2 at No.2, and Briceton Terrell conquered Wyatt Corbin 6-2, 6-4 at No.3.

“I don’t know who showed up today and put on the BNL uniforms,” BNL coach Ian Dillman said. “Our singles just didn’t move their feet and set up for shots. Their singles never did anything special, just got the ball back, which frustrated our guys and they started going to bad shots.

”Our doubles didn’t do much better. Everyone kept hitting the ball back to the opponent even when the opponents came up to the net. Every time, right back to them.”

At No.2 doubles, Braylen Pridemore and Charlie Schulte rolled past Braxton Fugate and Aden Ralston 6-0, 6-3.

”Overall, this wasn’t our best day,” Dillman said. “We have to leave this in the past and move forward. We had to go back to the drawing board, we have to go back and see where we messed up to get us ready for our next one.”

The Stars (5-5) will visit Paoli on Tuesday.
