Get free help with your smartphone, tablet, or laptop at StoneGate Arts and Education Center on Mon. Sept. 8

BEDFORD The StoneGate Arts & Education Center is hosting another free “Tech & Sip” session on Monday, September 8, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in its main lobby, offering hands-on assistance with smartphones, tablets, and laptops to residents across Lawrence County.

Part of a broader digital literacy initiative backed by a grant from ROI Digital Town, the “Tech & Sip” events are designed to be relaxed, welcoming environments where participants can drop in at no charge and receive practical help navigating their everyday devices. The sessions are informal—with coffee often on hand—and staffed by knowledgeable volunteers and staff members, including Cathy Bullington and Tamera Morse.

“Tech & Sip” has offered a range of convenient scheduling options: previous sessions took place on Saturday mornings in June and July, and on Monday afternoons in September and October. These events align with StoneGate’s broader mission of enriching the community through lifelong learning.

Founded as a 501(c)(3) organization, StoneGate Arts & Education Center is located at 931 15th Street in Bedford and operates under the oversight of an executive director and board of directors. The Center serves as a hub for post-secondary education and community development by hosting Ivy Tech Community College and Vincennes University, offering degree programs, personal enrichment classes, certifications and workforce training.

The facility includes state-of-the-art classrooms, studios, a black-box theater, café, administrative offices, and various meeting spaces. Architecturally, the three-story building with its limestone façade pays homage to Lawrence County’s historic stone industry.

StoneGate also collaborates with several partners—such as the City of Bedford, Indiana Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC), the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council (LCEGC), United Way of South Central Indiana, and UAW Local 440—to fund its wide-ranging educational and arts programs.

This September 8 session provides another opportunity for area residents to get free, friendly tech support—whether they’re emailing, video-calling, or learning new apps—all within the supportive environment of StoneGate’s Main Lobby.
