BEDFORD — A Bedford man was arrested on September 1, 2025, after he was found passed out in his vehicle in the Taco Bell drive-thru.
Kole Jacobsen, 33, was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and OWI Per Se 0.08 or more.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Taylor Daugherty of the Bedford Police Department, police were dispatched to Taco Bell at approximately 2:17 a.m. after employees reported a man who was passed out in his pickup truck. The vehicle was in the drive-thru line for about 30 minutes, and other cars had to drive around it.
Employees stated that they found Jacobsen in the driver’s seat with his foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive. When he didn’t respond to their commands, they unlocked the door through a partially open window and placed the truck in park. At this point, Jacobsen became alert but appeared disoriented. He then put his foot on the gas pedal.
When Officer Daugherty made contact with Jacobsen, he observed that Jacobsen had glossy, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and poor balance, and he could smell alcohol on his breath. Jacobsen told the officer he didn’t remember what had happened. He agreed to perform a series of standardized field sobriety tests, during which he showed signs of impairment.
A preliminary breath test yielded a result of 0.114 breath alcohol content. Jacobsen then consented to a certified chemical test at the Bedford Police Department, which was administered at 2:53 a.m. and resulted in a 0.121 BrAC. Jacobsen was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail.
