BEDFORD — A Bedford woman was arrested on August 13, 2025, after officers discovered she had marijuana and had violated a protective order.
Autumn Daugherty, 20, was booked into the Lawrence County Jail on charges of invasion of privacy, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Bedford Police Officer Taylor Daugherty, officers were called to the Church of Latter Day Saints at 1010 22nd Street, at approximately 9:54 p.m., regarding a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the occupants, Riley Girdley, the driver, and Autumn Daugherty, the passenger.
Upon investigating, police dispatch confirmed that an active protection order was in place between Daugherty and Girdley. Daugherty was then taken into custody. An officer seized a red backpack from the passenger floorboard, which Daugherty claimed was hers, and detected the smell of marijuana.
After being read his Miranda warning, Girdley admitted the backpack contained marijuana belonging to Daugherty. A search of the backpack revealed 24 grams of marijuana and a homemade smoking device. After being read her Miranda warning, Daugherty also admitted the backpack was hers and that she and Girdley had planned to smoke the marijuana.
Girdley was issued a summons to appear in Superior Court II on September 8, 2025, for possession of marijuana and was released from the scene. Daugherty was transported to the Bedford Police Department and then to the Lawrence County Jail.
