Suspect at large after assault report, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office seeks publics help

BLOOMINGTON— The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is searching for a male suspect after an assault was reported on the Karst Farm Greenway Trail near Grandview Elementary School on Friday, August 29, 2025.

The victim told deputies that the suspect is a white male with a slender build, in his mid-to-late 20s. He was wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts and had dark, curly hair styled in a mullet. The victim stated that the man had passed her several times on the trail. As she walked past him while he was stretching near the school, he grabbed her shirt and pulled it over her head. The victim screamed, causing the suspect to flee, and she immediately called 911.

MCSO’s drone team and a responding deputy arrived on the scene within minutes. They searched the area for over an hour but were unable to find the suspect.

The investigation is active and is being handled by the MCSO Investigations Unit. The Monroe County Community School Corporation was notified, and Grandview Elementary staff have increased exterior monitoring to enhance security around the school and the nearby trail.

The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help. Anyone with photos, video, or other information related to the case is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Nathan Peach. For urgent information or if you spot the suspect, call 911 immediately.
