Vincennes University launches Employer Gateway to connect businesses with skilled workers

VINCENNES—Vincennes University (VU) has launched its new Employer Gateway, an initiative designed to connect businesses with a pipeline of skilled graduates and provide customized training solutions for their existing workforces.

The program aims to foster partnerships with companies to ensure their employees are equipped with the academic and practical skills needed for success. VU’s graduates are excelling in high-demand fields such as advanced manufacturing, healthcare, robotics, and law enforcement, with companies like Amazon, Cummins, Subaru, and Toyota already collaborating closely with the university.

Training and Apprenticeship Programs

Beyond connecting employers with new talent, VU’s Employer Gateway offers various training options for companies looking to upskill their employees. Businesses can select from existing programs or collaborate with the university to create a fully customized curriculum tailored to their specific needs. These training programs cover a wide range of areas, including:

  • Manufacturing
  • Maintenance
  • Automation
  • Safety
  • Health care
  • Construction

By partnering with VU for work-based learning and apprenticeship programs, companies can potentially reduce hiring costs, enhance productivity, and lower employee turnover rates. Additionally, some of these programs may be eligible for grants, such as the Indiana Department of Workforce Development’s Employer Training Grant, which can reimburse employers up to $5,000 per employee trained.
