BEDFORD — A Bedford juvenile has been accused of domestic battery following a disturbance at a home on F Street Thursday evening.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed by Officer Stuart Ratcliff with the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched around 6:06 p.m. on August 28 to a residence after receiving a report that a female juvenile had become violent with family members.
The complainant told officers that the incident began after she made a trip to the Dollar Tree, where she discovered the teen had taken two necklaces without paying. She told the teen to return the items and pay for them, which sparked an argument that later escalated once they returned home.
The victim reported that the juvenile attempted to break a laptop, then kicked her multiple times in the legs, stomach, and waist, causing pain. She also alleged that the teen threw objects inside the home, striking her sister in the back with a plastic toy.
The juvenile told officers a different account, claiming she became upset after being denied food in town and admitted to picking up the laptop. She alleged the adult female spilled her drink, grabbed her by the hair, and threw her to the floor, adding that she only extended her foot to keep the adult female away.
Both the adult female and the accused juvenile showed minor injuries, which were photographed as part of the investigation.
The juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Bedford Police Department for processing. After consultation with a probation officer and advocates from Centerstone, the juvenile was released to her mother under a Promise to Appear in court on September 3.
The juvenile faces two counts of domestic battery.
