Autumn is the perfect time to catch big bass and help Indiana’s DNR

INDIANA – As the weather cools and the seasons change, autumn presents an excellent opportunity for anglers to reel in some big bass. With fewer people on the water, you’ll have a better chance of finding a good spot in your favorite local river or stream. The cooler temperatures and clearer streams of fall make for ideal fishing conditions.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wants to hear about your fall fishing experience. Over the past year, DNR biologists have been collecting data on stream black bass, which includes smallmouth, largemouth, and spotted bass. This information will help them better understand fishing pressure and population trends.

Whether you land a trophy fish or come up empty-handed, your fishing trip still provides valuable insights for the DNR’s survey. The survey asks for information on the river or stream you visited, the amount of time you spent fishing, and the sizes of any fish you caught.

By participating, you can help the DNR protect and improve Indiana’s bass fisheries for future seasons.
