Martinsville conquers BNL at Foxcliff

MARTINSVILLE -Martinsville took advantage of home-course knowledge to conquer Bedford North Lawrence 172-178 during girls high school golf action at Foxcliff Golf Club on Thursday afternoon.

The Stars collectively carded two birdies on their scorecards, but also settled for bigger numbers on an unfamiliar course.

“This is a course that none of the girls, nor I, have played,” BNL coach Carly Stigall said. “It showed us a lot of things we still need to work on.”

Emma Voris posted a 4-over 40, Kinleigh Root fired a 43 that included a birdie on the par-4 sixth hole, and Kadynn Canada added a 47. Sammie Nusbaum capped the scoring with 48, including a birdie on the par-5 seventh.

”Emma played solid,” Stigall said. “She didn’t make many errors and got the ball in the hole.”

Maddie Martin was the medalist with a 38 for the Artesians.

BNL will compete in the Hall of Fame Classic at The Legends in Franklin on Saturday.
