MONROE CO. – Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc., is continuing bridge deck overlay work on State Road 46 over Jacks Defeat Creek in Ellettsville.
On or after Friday, August 29, crews will begin Phase 2 of the project on eastbound S.R. 46 between South Park Street and North Hartstrait Road. Phase 1 work will be complete before the start of Phase 2.
Eastbound S.R. 46 will remain reduced to one lane, and a 10-foot width limit will be in effect while work is in progress. Traffic will be shifted to the right lane of eastbound S.R. 46 during Phase 2. Work is expected to be complete in late November, weather permitting.
Additional bridge work will take place on westbound S.R. 46 in 2026. INDOT will provide further information and updates at a later date. Initial information can be found here.
This project is part of a $4 million contract awarded to E&B in May 2025. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
