Shoals to host Hunter Education Course in September

SHOALS – A hunter education course will be offered in Shoals for anyone seeking to obtain a hunting license in Indiana. The course is required for anyone born after December 31, 1986, to be certified before purchasing a hunting license.

The class will be held at the Shoals School Cafeteria and will be taught by Indiana Conservation Officers (ICOs) and volunteer instructors.

The curriculum will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • Safe firearm use
  • Hunter ethics
  • Conservation management
  • Game identification
  • Archery
  • Tree stand safety

The course is divided into two sessions:

  • Friday, September 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, September 20, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Most classes offered are 1 to 3 sessions long, and to be certified, students must attend the entire class, including all sessions. Shoals Schools and West Boggs Park sponsor the course.
