BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington South erupted for six goals in the second half while cruising to a 9-0 triumph over Bedford North Lawrence during boys high school soccer action on Tuesday.
The Panthers, 3-0 and ranked No.5 in the Class 3A, were too powerful on the offensive end, blasting 36 shots. Konrad Polit paced South with a hat trick.
“South is very technical and very fast both on the ball and as a team,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “In the first half we had really good effort and talk. In the end we were overwhelmed by their speed and passing ability. I’m proud that the kids kept fighting the whole game.”
Polit got South started with two first-half goals, and Michael Mmadi gave the Panthers a 3-0 lead at intermission. In the second half, Ezra Furr scored off the kickoff, and Evan Gales added a rebound blast only two minutes later.
The rest of the South goals were recorded by Tom Henry Berry, Oliver Dorad and Mmadi (whose final goal triggered the mercy rule with 4:40 left.
The Stars (1-3) managed only one shot.
BNL will host Barr-Reeve on Thursday.
