BEDFORD – Floyd Central conquered Bedford North Lawrence 3-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference opener during boys high school soccer action on Saturday.
The Highlanders (1-2 overall) scored twice early in the second half to pull away while dominating the ball. Floyd totaled 25 shots while BNL (1-2) was limited to three.
Floyd’s Rylan Howe opened the scoring at 23:28 of the first half. Luis Riggs (36:21) and Brad Coto (21:37) added insurance goals in the second.
“The kids all played hard,” BNL coach Ryan Otis said. “We’ve been stressing that the last few days, so I’m happy with our effort and energy.
“Floyd is a very sound and technical team. They have 11 seniors on the varsity. We have a lot of guys gaining very valuable experience. I thought our back line did a really good job. We asked our midfield and striker to chase a lot, which is very tiring. They kept after it.”
BNL will return to action at Bloomington South on Tuesday.
