LOOGOOTEE — A routine traffic stop for a disregarded stop sign in Martin County resulted in an arrest for operating a vehicle while impaired and drug possession on Tuesday morning.
Master Trooper Jarrod Lents of the Indiana State Police was on US 231 near Loogootee when he observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Trooper Lents pulled the vehicle over and identified the driver as Brandy R. Rominger, 48, of Washington, Indiana.
During the stop, Trooper Lents noticed signs of criminal activity and searched both Rominger and the vehicle. The search uncovered suspected marijuana and paraphernalia. Authorities also noted that Rominger showed visible signs of impairment.
Rominger was arrested and taken to Daviess Community Hospital for a chemical test before being transported to the Martin County Jail, where she is being held on bond on charges of possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
The arresting officer was Trooper Jarrod Lents. All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
