Obituary: Sharon Kay (Waggoner) Hillenburg

June 28, 1942 – August 17, 2025

Sharon Kay (Waggoner) Hillenburg, 83, of Bedford, died on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Cedar Creek Assisted Living in Bedford. 

Born June 28, 1942, in Scottsburg, Indiana, she was the daughter of Orville and Metta (Thomas) Waggoner. She married Laramie ‘Larry’ Hillenburg on December 23, 1961, and he preceded her in death on October 31, 2024.  Sharon had worked many places, including the Diane Shop, Kmart, and Stone City Bank. 

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. 

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Metta and Orville Waggoner, her brothers Ray Waggoner and Bill Waggoner, an infant brother, James Thomas Waggoner, her husband, Laramie Hillenburg, and her daughter, Tina Hillenburg. 

Sharon is survived by a son, James ‘Jim’ Hillenburg of Williams, and his wife, Sarah, a granddaughter, Chelsea Hillenburg of Columbus, Ohio, and her husband, Connor Hamblett, a grandson, Evan Hillenburg of Williams, and his wife, Lauren, two great-grandchildren, Mason and Elsie Hillenburg, her siblings, Roy Waggoner, Jane Mundy, and Herb Waggoner and many nieces and nephews. 

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 24th, in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Williams Church of Christ Cemetery in Williams. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of the service on Sunday at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
