INDOT needs your input on the Indiana State Rail Plan

INDIANA — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is calling on Hoosiers to provide their input on the future of rail in the state. As part of a crucial update to the Indiana State Rail Plan, the department is seeking public feedback to help guide its infrastructure investments and policies.

Indiana holds a significant position in the national rail network, ranking fourth in the number of freight railroads. The State Rail Plan is designed to align the state’s efforts towards a shared goal of creating the most efficient and effective rail transportation system possible.

The plan’s purpose, goals, objectives, and an overview of existing conditions for both freight and passenger rail are available for review on the INDOT website. The department is particularly interested in public insights to help prioritize future investments in the rail system.

Residents and interested parties are encouraged to take a survey to share their thoughts and help shape the future of rail in Indiana. The survey is open until Wednesday, September 10th.
