WASHINGTON, D.C. — Nearly 200,000 KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens have been recalled nationwide due to a strangulation hazard, following the tragic death of a toddler. According to an announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the toy kitchen’s hooks, designed to hold accessories, can pose a risk of serious injury or death.

The CPSC explained that children’s clothing can become entangled on the hooks, particularly when they are climbing on the counter or crawling through the back opening of the play kitchen. The recall affects approximately 192,000 units sold in the U.S. and an additional 12 in Canada.
Product Information and What to Do
The affected products are the KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens, which measure about 44 inches long and 43 inches high. Consumers can identify the recalled toy by checking for model number 53411, which is located on a sticker on the back of the kitchen.
The toys were sold online through KidKraft, Amazon, and Walmart from 2018 to July 2025, with prices ranging from $120 to $270.
Backyard Kids, LLC, which is handling the recall, has instructed consumers to stop using the play kitchens immediately and to remove the original hooks. The company is offering free replacement hooks for all affected units. Consumers can contact Backyard Kids to receive these replacements.
