JASPER – U.S. Congressman Mark Messmer has officially announced his bid for re-election in Indiana’s 8th Congressional District. In a statement released today, Messmer confirmed he will seek a second term, touting his conservative voting record and his alignment with the current administration.

The announcement was accompanied by a major endorsement from President Donald J. Trump, who praised Messmer’s work in Washington. In a post on Truth Social, President Trump called Messmer “a Fantastic Representative” and highlighted his efforts to “Protect ‘Hoosier’ Values, Support our Amazing Farmers and Ranchers, Cut Taxes and Regulations,” and “Ensure American Energy DOMINANCE.” The president also noted Messmer’s work on border security and his advocacy for military veterans and the Second Amendment.

Messmer, who serves on the House Committees on Agriculture, Armed Services, and Education and Workforce, stated that he is running for a second term to continue fighting for the principles of the American founding. “We have a leader in the White House who is working every day for the American people and not special interests,” Messmer said, “and we need members in Congress who will fight with President Trump to make sure America continues to be an exceptional nation filled with promise for the next generation.”
He also emphasized his commitment to making the Trump tax cuts permanent, eliminating what he called “harmful and divisive policies like DEI,” and creating more opportunities for entrepreneurs and local farmers in his district. Messmer concluded his statement by vowing to “work tirelessly in the days and weeks ahead to earn your vote and continue to fight for Indiana and our conservative principles in my next term.”
