Washington County Sheriff’s Department investigate fatal single-vehicle accident

SCOTTSBURG— A Kokomo woman, 34-year-old Paige Turley, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Monday, August 4, 2025.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Scifres Road and Bush Road at approximately 9:17 a.m. Washington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arriving on the scene found a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze that had crashed into a tree on the east side of Scifres Road.

Turley was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Turley was traveling south on Scifres Road when her vehicle left the west side of the roadway. She reportedly overcorrected, causing her to lose control. The car then crossed to the east side of the road and struck a tree. Authorities believe speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

Detective Brad Naugle is leading the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Sheriff Brent Miller, Lieutenant Wayne Blevins, Officer Mike Wimmer, the Gibson and Salem Volunteer Fire Departments, Washington County EMS, and the Washington County Coroner’s Office.
