BLOOMINGTON — A man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly kicking a police officer, spitting on several others, and making violent threats during an arrest on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Mohamed I. Koliso, 33, was arrested near the Monroe County Public Library after police were called to a reported theft at a nearby CVS Pharmacy, according to court documents. A probable cause affidavit states that officers found Koliso near the library’s southwest corner and, after identifying him as the theft suspect, attempted to place him under arrest.
While being escorted in handcuffs, Koliso, who is listed as a transient in jail records, allegedly resisted by dropping his weight and then kicked an officer in the thigh. As officers restrained him on the ground, he reportedly became combative, spitting on three officers.
According to police, Koliso later spat on an officer’s arm and face and made repeated verbal threats to harm the officer’s family members, including threats of sexual violence. He is also accused of threatening to shoot another officer and his family. The threats reportedly continued after he was transported to the Monroe County Jail.
Koliso has been charged with battery on a public safety official, a Level 5 felony, four counts of battery by bodily waste, Level 6 felonies, and two counts of intimidation, Level 6 felonies. He also faces misdemeanor charges of theft, resisting law enforcement, and criminal mischief.
The court documents do not specify what was allegedly stolen from the CVS.
