BEDFORD – A Bedford man is facing charges of domestic battery and strangulation following an alleged physical altercation with his ex-fiancée at their residence. An arrest warrant has been requested for 38-year-old Aric T. Enochs. He was detained on Sunday, August 3.

According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Sgt. Nick Crulo of the Bedford Police Department, officers were dispatched to Enochs’ address at approximately 2:42 p.m. on July 22 in response to a reported battery.
Upon arrival, Sgt. Crulo met with the alleged female victim. She stated that around 1:30 p.m. that day, she and Enochs, her now ex-fiancé, began arguing about his refusal to help around the house. She claimed that after she accused Enochs of cheating, he stood up, approached her, and grabbed her by the throat, pushing her against a wall and holding her there against her will. While holding her throat, Enochs allegedly punched her in the head and face with closed fists. The woman reported she was unable to breathe and suffered pain, redness, and soreness from the punches. She stated she was able to strike Enochs during the altercation, knocking him to the ground, and also tore his shirt during the struggle. Enochs reportedly left the residence in a green Jeep after the fight. Photographs of redness on the woman’s face and neck were taken. She agreed to sign a battery affidavit.
Later that day, at approximately 6:16 p.m., Enochs arrived at the police station and requested to speak with Sgt. Crulo. After being read his Miranda Warning, Enochs stated that the argument began because the female had accused him of cheating. He mentioned the woman had a drinking problem and initially denied any physical violence. However, when confronted with the fact that Sgt. Crulo had overheard him telling his father that the woman had hit him and torn his shirt, Enochs changed his account.
Enochs then claimed that after returning home from physical therapy, the woman had grabbed his shirt as he tried to leave. He stated that she hit him a few times in the chest as he tried to get out of his shirt, which knocked him down. Enochs alleged that the woman then kicked him a couple of times before walking into the kitchen, at which point he left the residence and returned to his father’s house. Enochs also mentioned a past incident in Mitchell where the woman had been physically violent, but he declined to press charges at that time. Sgt. Crulo observed no apparent redness, bruising, or other signs of trauma on Enochs’ torso.
Based on the investigation, Sgt. Crulo determined there was probable cause to believe Enochs committed the crimes. An arrest warrant has been requested.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
