Medora man arrested after police find sexual material involving children

MEDORA- A Jackson County man has been arrested and accused of possessing child pornography on his phone, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Kelly Johnson

The investigation began on July 5, when a deputy investigating a separate criminal case served a search warrant at a home in the 200 block of Main Street in Medora. This led to the confiscation of a phone owned by 41-year-old Kelly Johnson of Medora. During the subsequent download of the phone’s contents, authorities reportedly discovered possible sexual material involving children.

On Thursday, July 31, deputies served another search warrant at Johnson’s home, where they located a second cell phone. This device also allegedly contained what authorities described as disturbing images of juveniles.

Johnson was arrested on Thursday on charges of possession of child pornography. He is currently being held without bond in the Jackson County Jail.

Deputies stated that the original criminal investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.

Those facing criminal charges are considered innocent unless convicted through due legal proceedings. Accusations alone do not imply guilt; the judicial system will evaluate the presented evidence to reach a verdict.
