BEDFORD – An arrest warrant has been issued for Dennis Cody Mundy, 36, of Bedford, following an investigation that began with a reported overdose on March 17, 2025.

Mundy is facing charges including possession of paraphernalia, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, and possession of a hypodermic needle or syringe.
According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Officer Thomas Porter of the Lawrence County Police Department, he responded to a report of an unresponsive male believed to have overdosed in the 800 block of Sasser Drive on March 17.
Upon arrival, Officer Porter located Mundy in a back room of the residence. In plain view near Mundy, the officer observed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia and glass smoking devices.
After stepping outside to inform the officer in charge of his observations, Officer Porter re-entered the residence. At that time, EMS and fire personnel told him that they had observed a closed safe, a silver tray containing a white substance, and several syringes with an unknown substance after Officer Porter had briefly exited.
Based on these observations, Officer Porter applied for and received approval for a search warrant for the residence. Officer Porter and Sgt Robin Compton executed the search warrant. During the search, illicit substances were located that field-tested positive for fentanyl and heroin. Specifically, drug analysis results, confirmed on July 11, 2025, indicated that 13.95 grams of fentanyl and a trace amount (0.14 grams) of medetomidine, an animal sedative, were seized.
Additionally, officers located numerous items of drug paraphernalia, approximately 80-100 syringes (both capped and uncapped), and a yellow Ziploc-style bag containing money on top of a dresser in Mundy’s bedroom.
Based on the evidence collected, Officer Porter has probable cause to believe that Dennis Cody Mundy committed the crimes above, leading to the request for an arrest warrant. He was detained on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
