Orleans Water Department announces upcoming hydrant flushing

ORLEANS – The Orleans Town Water Department has announced it will begin its annual hydrant flushing program starting Monday, July 21st. The flushing will continue throughout that week and into the following week.

Residents may experience temporary discoloration of their water during this period. While the discolored water is safe for drinking, the department advises residents to avoid washing clothes in it until the water runs clear, as it may cause stains on fabrics.

To clear their home’s water system after flushing, residents should run various fixtures, including faucets and washing machines, until the water returns to its usual clarity.

The Town of Orleans regrets any inconvenience this necessary maintenance process may cause and appreciates the patience and cooperation of its residents. For any questions, residents can contact the Orleans Town Offices Monday through Friday during regular business hours at 812-865-2539, or by email at orleanstownhall@town.orleans.in.us.
