MITCHELL – A Mitchell woman was arrested Saturday afternoon following a single-vehicle crash that damaged a utility pole and her subsequent departure from the scene. Sarah M. Rogers, 49, faces charges of leaving the scene of a property damage crash, Class B misdemeanor, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, Class C misdemeanor.

At approximately 5:18 p.m., captured on body camera footage, Rogers spontaneously stated, “I was drunk obviously and wrecked my car.”
Officer Grogan then read Rogers the Operating While Intoxicated Implied Consent Warning, to which she consented to a blood draw chemical test at IU Health Bedford. She was transported to IU Health Bedford, where blood was drawn. Upon arrival at the Lawrence County Jail, Rogers completed a portable breath test with a result of .135, exceeding the legal limit of 0.08.
Rogers had refused EMS at her residence and denied treatment at IU Health Bedford. Blood test results are pending.
Rogers was arrested and remanded to the Lawrence County Jail.
A Probable Cause Affidavit outlines the initial findings and allegations that led to an arrest. Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
