Robert E. “Rob” Stalker, 85, of Bedford, IN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 7, 2025, at his residence.
Born January 30, 1940, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Fred and Elsie (Smith) Stalker. He married Bonnie Brinegar on March 4, 1962, and she survives. Rob graduated from Mitchell High School and retired from G.M. Powertrain in Bedford. He had also previously worked as an auctioneer.
Rob was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Bedford for over 50 years, where he faithfully served as Head Usher. He was always ready with a handshake and a friendly smile. Rob especially cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Bonnie Stalker; his daughter, Bobbi (Dave) Houpt; two grandsons, Darren Houpt and Ryan (Kayla) Houpt; two great-grandsons, Peyton and Kain Houpt; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Elsie Stalker; and his ten siblings, including four brothers—Eddie, Bill, Don, and Dale Stalker—and six sisters: Helen (in infancy), Mary, Dorothy, Martha, Betty, and Georgia.
Funeral services for Robert E. “Rob” Stalker will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 1515 20th Street, Bedford, IN, with Pastor Jason Filler officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Cresthaven Memory Gardens, Dixie Hwy, Bedford.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes, 818 18th Street, Bedford, IN, and again on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at First Baptist Church.
