Mount Vernon Woman’s Disappearance Ends in Tragic Discovery in Owensboro

POSEY COUNTY— An elderly Posey County woman who was the subject of a Silver Alert Monday was found dead later that evening in Owensboro, Kentucky, according to police.

Authorities say 89-year-old Lola Davis of Mount Vernon, Indiana, was discovered deceased inside her vehicle shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of East 2nd Street in downtown Owensboro. The cause and circumstances of her death remain under investigation.

Earlier that day, Indiana State Police issued a Silver Alert after Davis was reported missing from her Mount Vernon home around 9 a.m. Officials said she had dementia and was believed to be in extreme danger.

Search crews spent much of Monday focused near Middle Mount Vernon Road in Posey County before her vehicle was located more than 40 miles away across the state line in western Kentucky.

The Silver Alert was canceled following the discovery of her body. Local law enforcement agencies in both Indiana and Kentucky are continuing their investigation.
