Obituary: Ruth A. Pounds

July 18, 1930 – June 28, 2025

Ruth A. Pounds, 94 of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Stonebridge Health Campus in Bedford, after suffering from Dementia.

Ruth was born in Tucson, Arizona, on July 18, 1930, to Thomas A. Gilliam and Laura (Stonesifer) Gilliam. Ruth married Jimmy R. Pounds on October 2, 1954, and he preceded her in death on January 21, 2021. Ruth grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from Garfield High School. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, she was a librarian aide at Stalker School for many years, she was a Brownie leader, she enjoyed reading, knitting, Crocheting, Gardening, playing cards, UNO and Skipbo with her best friend, Marie Fry.

Survivors include her daughter, Deborah (Bill) Weddle of Bedford, grandson, Tanner (Tathena) Thomas of Spring Hill, Tennessee, two step-granddaughters, Ashleigh (Andy) Crowe of Kentucky, and Aubrei (Dan) Teter of Edinburgh, four great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Turner, Mason, and Kent.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jimmy R. Pounds, granddaughter, Erika D. Asbury, four brothers, and five sisters.

Private family services will be conducted. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
