ZIONSVILLE — Elise Nieshalla, a proven conservative leader, fiscal policy expert, and successful entrepreneur, officially announced her campaign to continue serving as Indiana State Comptroller. With a record of public service rooted in transparency, accountability, and principled leadership, Nieshalla pledges to maintain Indiana’s strong financial foundation and continue to lead the charge, alongside state financial officers, in calling for the President and Congress to address the national debt.

“Indiana is a model of fiscal responsibility with strong reserves, a AAA credit rating, a balanced budget, and one of the lowest debt levels in the country. We’re showing what responsible government looks like—and I will fight every day to protect that standard,” Nieshalla said, “and we need to make America’s finances like Indiana’s.”
Serving as Indiana’s State Comptroller, Nieshalla manages the state’s accounting, financial reporting, payroll, vendor payments, and disbursements to local governments with unwavering dedication since being appointed in 2023. She is spearheading advancements in the Indiana Transparency Portal and overseeing system enhancements that combat waste, fraud, and abuse.
A longtime advocate for fiscal discipline, Nieshalla previously served as President of both the Indiana County Councils Association and the Boone County Council. She also chaired the Association of Indiana Counties Legislative Committee and was named Indiana County Councilor of the Year in 2018.
Nieshalla is also nationally recognized for her leadership of the National Debt Crisis Task Force, a group of state financial officers working to rally state leaders to support Congress and President Trump in confronting America’s growing federal debt and restoring the country’s fiscal solvency.
As a small business owner with over 20 years of experience in real estate investment and management, Elise brings a results-driven approach to public finance. Her priorities include:
- Upholding conservative values and an America First agenda by defending life, liberty, free enterprise, and self-defense
- Ending investments in Communist China and ESG funds that undermine American values and fiduciary duty
- Making the state government more efficient through technology and streamlined systems
“Serving Hoosiers as State Comptroller is an honor,” Nieshalla said. “I’m committed to continuing our nationally recognized financial reporting and transparency for one of the brightest economic beacons in America – the State of Indiana.”
Before serving as State Comptroller, Elise Nieshalla was the President of the Indiana County Councils Association and the Boone County Council. She is also an entrepreneur in real estate investments, a founder of the Hoosier Leadership Series, and a former adjunct instructor for Indiana University’s O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs, from which she earned her master’s degree. She lives in Zionsville with her husband, Chris, where they raised their four children.
