BICKNELL – A 57-year-old woman, Anissa Everett, has died following a collision between a golf cart and a pickup truck Monday morning at the intersection of Main and Third Streets in Bicknell.
Knox County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene around 8:47 a.m., where they found Everett on the ground near a golf cart. She was conscious and alert at the time and was transported to a local hospital. However, her condition rapidly deteriorated, and she later passed away due to internal injuries sustained in the crash.
A 17-year-old male drove the pickup truck involved in the incident. He informed deputies that both vehicles entered the intersection simultaneously. Authorities noted that the crash occurred at a low speed and resulted in minimal visible damage to the vehicles.
An autopsy confirmed that internal injuries caused Everett’s death, and her death has been ruled accidental.
In light of the tragic incident, authorities are reminding the public that golf carts are not designed for typical roadways and lack crucial safety features such as seatbelts.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to Anissa Everett’s family and the teenager involved in the incident.
