ELLETTSVILLE- On Friday, June 13, at 5:18 PM, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a major traffic crash on State Road 46 just east of Stinesville Road. Deputies responded and located two vehicles in the roadway that had collided head-on. One of the drivers of Spencer, Indiana, was deceased at the scene, and the other driver, Cindy Bentley, 62, Gosport, Indiana, was found suffering from serious injuries and had to be extracted from the vehicle. Mrs. Bentley was flown from the scene by helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the crash. Assisting agencies include the Ellettsville Police Department, Ellettsville Fire Department, Bean Blossom Township/Stinesville Fire Department, IU Health Lifeline, Owen County EMS, and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.
