On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Pleas Sidney Abner, 58, loving husband and amazing girl dad to his three girls, passed away after a 6-year battle with Cancer with his beloved loving family at his side.
Pleas was born in Columbus, the son of Mary and David Abner, brother to Davanna and Andrew Abner. Pleas met and later married the love of his life, Melissa, while studying at Indiana University. They had three beautiful girls, Sophia Abner, Claudia Abner, and Claire Abner.
Pleas had a passion for his family, friends, animals, baking, and spending time outdoors. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford. He enjoyed working in the Limestone industry and, as many know, could talk for hours about these rocks. Pleas never met a stranger and welcomed a diverse group of loved ones into our lives. He was well known for his positivity, never being in a hurry, and his love to tease those he loved.
Survivors include his wife, Melissa (Brewer) Abner, three daughters, Sophia Abner, Claudia Abner, and Claire Abner, his father, Larry David Abner, one brother, Andrew Abner, several nieces and nephews, his dogs, Koko and Kuma Abner.
Pleas was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Sears) Abner, one sister, Davanna (Abner) Dunn.
A celebration of his life will be on Saturday June 21, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Bedford Camp and Conference Center, 33 Church Camp Road, Bedford, Indiana. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM Noon until the service time at 1:00 PM. After the celebration there will be food and friendship, in lieu of flowers donation may be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services, Cresthaven Funeral Home is entrusted with his care, condolences may be made at www.cresthavenfh.com.
