MONTGOMERY – Bedford North Lawrence finished the 2025 season with a solid sixth-place conclusion in the IHSAA regional at Country Oaks on Thursday.
The Stars carded a respectable team score of 317. The top three teams, plus the top three individuals who were not members of qualifying teams, advanced to the state championship on June 17-18 at Prairie View.
Scoring was sensational as Evansville North won its ninth straight regional title with 285 (3-under as a squad). Castle was second with 292, while Bloomington South won the third state slot on a fifth-man tiebreaker with 307.
Tyler Bellush, a senior playing his final round, posted a 2-over 74, while freshman Evan Tillett carded 77.
“I thought we played well,” BNL coach Trey Turner said. “We got off to a rough start. I think there were some nerves involved, but I’m really proud of the way they battled.
“We were finding ways to make pars on the back nine after some big numbers on the front. Overall, I’m just proud of the way we finished the season. Our two best rounds of the year came in the two most important tournaments.”
Drew McKee and Hudson Martin capped the BNL scoring with 83s.
The Huskies featured two players (Luke Johnston and Brody Sorrell) with 68s en route to their title.
Gibson Southern’s Peyton Blackard and Jasper’s Caleb Schnarr blistered the course with 5-under 67s, while Evansville Memorial’s Grayson Coughlin claimed the final individual ticket to the state finals with 71.
