WASHINGTON, IN – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident that occurred on June 7, at approximately 9:11 p.m., in the 2000 block of County Road West 300 North, in Washington.
Daviess County Central Dispatch received a report of a male pinned under a vehicle that had fallen off its jacks. Deputies and first responders arrived at the scene to find a male trapped beneath a full-size Ford F350 truck. A forklift was used to lift the vehicle and free the victim.
The victim was identified as 16-year-old Cooper Schuckman of Washington.
The initial investigation indicates that Cooper and a friend were working on the vehicle, which was supported by two air jacks on blocks and one floor jack. As they attempted to remove a part, the vehicle’s weight shifted, causing it to fall off the jacks and onto Cooper.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Daviess County Ambulance Service, and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office.
