COLUMBUS – The Diesel Workers Union (DWU) is scheduled to conduct a strike authorization vote on Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6, according to an anonymous source, following recent negotiations with Cummins.

In a letter posted to social media, the DWU Bargaining Committee stated they met with Cummins from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, to continue negotiations. However, the company did not present an offer or proposal for the membership to vote on.

As a result, the DWU will hold an “authorization to strike” vote at the DWU Union Hall from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Thursday, June 5, and Friday, June 6. The committee noted that no absentee ballots will be available.
The letter further clarified that an authorization to strike “does not mean we will strike immediately.” Instead, it signifies that the membership has given consent to the DWU Bargaining Committee to authorize a strike. The committee emphasized this as a “very important step in the bargaining process” and highly encouraged members to participate in the vote.
