OOLITIC – A Bedford man is facing preliminary drug-related charges following an overdose response and subsequent search warrant execution at an Oolitic residence on Friday, November 29.
According to an affidavit for probable cause filed by Oolitic Marshal Ryan Duckett, officers were dispatched to a residence on Smith Avenue at approximately 8:45 p.m. in response to a reported overdose. Upon arrival, officers located a 24-year-old female unconscious inside a detached garage.
Officers administered three doses of NARCAN, after which the female regained consciousness. During the initial response, officers observed an uncapped syringe and clear plastic baggies containing suspected controlled substances near the woman.

Police then obtained a search warrant for the garage. Upon executing the search warrant, officers discovered male clothing, debit cards, court documents, and mail addressed to Dakota Stinson, indicating he also resided in the garage. Investigators noted a bedroom window appeared to have been removed, suggesting someone may have fled. Stinson also had an active arrest warrant.
During the search, officers recovered a bag containing 8.07 grams of methamphetamine, 1.04 grams of heroin, 17 syringes, and 12 marijuana vape cartridges. Additionally, multiple glass smoking devices, digital scales, and plastic baggies consistent with drug use were seized.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office, and a warrant was issued for Stinson’s arrest. He was detained on May 28, 2025 on charges of possession of meth, possession of cocaine or a narcotic drug, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, wanted on a probation violation.
A warrant was also requested for the woman.
Stinson’s criminal history includes multiple charges for possession and dealing of illegal narcotics, as well as violent crimes. The residence has also been involved in previous cases where illicit drugs were located.
A Probable Cause Affidavit outlines the initial findings and allegations that led to an arrest. Criminal charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
